Schroth Therapy is an evidence-based method of physical rehabilitation for scoliosis and other spinal deformities. This method was developed by Katharina Schroth in 1930s the second decade of the last century and her first little Institute was started in 1921. The Three-dimensional Scoliosis Treatment according to Katharina Schroth consisted of specific postural correction, correction of breathing patterns, and correction of postural perception.
She was then assisted by her daughter, Christa Lehnert-Schroth, who developed special exercises for double major curve and lumbar curve patterns (3- and 4- curve program).
The recent step was the simplification of the Schroth program and the ‘easy to perform’ add ons based on recent evidence by Dr. Hans-Rudolf Weiss, Grandson of Katharina Schroth and son of Christa Lehnert-Schroth. This program, the only one based on the original, is called the ‘Schroth Best Practice’ program.
Later Dr. Hans-Rudolf Weiss developed the Gensingen brace (GBW), a brace which implements pattern specific corrective movements derived from the original Schroth method and is made on the basis of computer aided design / computer aided manufacturing (CAD / CAM) being highly corrective and more comfortable.
The Best Practice Academy is arranging courses worldwide inviting professionals from all over the world to participate in the most recent developments in the field of physiotherapy and bracing. Patient safety is well respected within our academy and we all try to avoid improper- and over-treatment.Our published guidelines ensure the highest level of transparency for those affected.
Due to the actual Covid 19 situation in Germany the centennial (100 years of the Schroth method) celebration conference will be held in 2021 in the form of E-Conference on March 19th – 20th 2021.
